Indoor Environments
We have many superb pieces of equipment and resources in every one of our rooms. These are all selected specifically for the age and stage of development of the children. It’s amazing to see the process of growth and advancement the children go through from the Baby Room to the Preschool Room and our equipment and resources are a key part of enhancing this journey.
Examples of our stand-out equipment are the Community Playthings Nursery Gyms in our Toddler Room and our Sensory Space in our Baby Room. The Community Playthings Nursery Gyms are a favourite of our toddlers in our Slough nursery. They give them the opportunity to develop their physical confidence and skills even from indoors. They offer a myriad of other benefits as our Practitioners use them to encourage social development through playing together, helping each other and taking turns. as well. They also teach the children trial-and-error problem solving as they tackle the different elements of the Nursery Gyms – steps, slides, bridges etc.
Several years ago we invested over £25,000 in a ‘state of the art’ Sensory Space in our Baby Room, which provides a great area for children to explore their senses – with lights and shadows, bubble machine and lamps, with all sorts of reflective and textured resources. Along with exploring their senses, the children use all these items to develop their skills – including moving and handling, following patterns and many other mathematical opportunities.
Outdoor Environments
Our outdoor environment has many elements. We have a large sandpit which the children love channelling their imagination and developing their creation skills in. Our Mud Kitchen lets them get their hands dirty and our Growing Patch gives them a connection to nature and life processes – and they love getting the fruits of their efforts on their plates at lunchtime. One of the children’s favourite things to do in our outdoor space is to spend time on the large climbing frame, which is a great place for children to continue to develop and hone their physical skills and provide opportunity to see their world from a different aspect.
